photos Singapore travel Singapore: The Year of the Dog Paul Parks 14 February 2018 No Comments Gallery Last night, I walked around Singapore’s Chinatown to explore the preparations for Chinese New Year. This coming year is the year of the dog, which is my year. There are dog decorations and motifs everywhere around Singapore, not just in Chinatown. This guy had dressed up his dogs for the holiday. I hope he doesn’t try this for the year of the tiger. There are several streets lined with shops just for CNY (how everyone here abbreviates “Chinese New Year”). It’s like America’s Thanksgiving and Christmas all rolled into one holiday. There are even ornaments. There’s lots of good food, too! These are special sausages for CNY. Red is the primary colour of CNY. The crowds build and build as the new year approaches. Some places were shoulder to shoulder.
